Author: People need to use ink when printing. The reasons are simple, ink is nontoxic, where toner is harmful and dangerous. Toner provides a big nasty mess that needs to be cleaned up immediately and very carefully if spilled. Solid ink can just be picked up and used, once cleaned off and made sure that there is no dust or any particles on it.
Solid ink can be used up completely and fully, where as toner always leaves behind some remains that need to be disposed of properly due to their harmful chemical components. Toner is a powder like substance that is activated by heat. Solid ink sticks are also activated by heat, but because it is in a clay material, it is much easier to handle and is not such a big deal if it is dropped because it will not spill or become a sketchy problem.
Since ink is used in full, they can be replaced and refilled at anytime, much like a stapler can be refilled with more staples at anytime. Toner needs to be completely empty because the entire cartridge will need to be replaced.
Toner and ink are both high performing printing products that reap excellent printed documents and products, but for people who choose ink over toner, there is more at stake than just the final and finished printed product. For people who care about the environment and their pocket book, ink sticks are the better buy. Even though toner is typically more inexpensive than ink, since it is the ink stick that gets used up fully, the toner provides more waste and is therefore not so economically beneficial.
Before just going out and buying complicated computer or printer parts, people need to know about the products and companies at hand and what they offer to the consumer. By figuring these things out, people are able to ask themselves important questions about what they are looking for from these products. Do they just want something that can get the job done and over with in the quickest and cheapest way? Or do they want a company that is fiscally responsible and environmentally conscious?
